Sheri A. Elpern, BA, MA - Anthropology
Message Management Consultant

Ms. Elpern has over eighteen years in-depth experience creating communications strategies for hi-tech companies. “The challenge for technology companies has always been to connect their products to the solutions that solve everyday problems for businesses and communicate the right message to the right audiences.” Ms. Elpern’s experience is with companies small and large – from startups to the corporate giant HP. Ms. Elpern has a track record of successful product launch initiatives using strategic mixes of PR, collateral, advertising and industry analyst briefings working from career positions ranging from marketing communications manager to business program manager. “I find that companies often need to initiate a “marketing audit” in order to better position their products and services as time goes on. I’ve developed a methodology that gets to the core of messaging and the collateral strategy required to communicate that messaging.”

The commonality of the companies she has been affiliated with has been the leading-edge nature of the products and services she has represented. Meridian Data was the pioneer in CD-ROM networking and mastering. Moving its products and reputation into the hi-tech mainstream communications channels meant positioning its utility into the everyday world of corporate business. The solution was demonstrating its ability to solve problems of information distribution and archiving at a time when the Internet was just beginning to catch on.

Within HP, Ms. Elpern worked in areas not normally associated with the company’s everyday business. Software, professional services and mission critical support are crucial to HP’s overall success but challenging to gain mind-share relative to “printers and PCs.” Communications campaigns that emphasized the importance of ongoing reliability, efficiency and effectiveness positioned these products within the breadth of HP’s contribution to a company’s success.

Ms. Elpern graduated With Distinction from Stanford University with a BA and MA. Ms. Elpern is a member of the Nevada Tech Alliance, EDAWN, WEACT and the Board of Trustees Fourth Ward School Foundation.
